Enable Arabic on Windows
Older Windows editions of Shamelah require the system locale for non-Unicode programs to be Arabic. This is a one-time change; English applications and documents continue to work normally.
Windows 10 Pro
- Open Settings → Time & Language → Language.
- Under Preferred Languages, add Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and include the optional features.
- Open Control Panel → Clock and Region → Region → Administrative.
- Select Change system locale, choose Arabic (Saudi Arabia), confirm, and restart.
Windows 10 Home or Standard
- Open Settings → Time & Language → Region & Language.
- Set the region to Saudi Arabia and add Arabic (Saudi Arabia).
- Use Control Panel’s Region → Administrative page to change the system locale.
- Restart the computer.
If Arabic appears as boxes or question marks later, return to this lesson and confirm that you changed the system locale, not only the keyboard language.
